Visitors of even the youngest ages can enjoy spending time at West Chicago City Museum. Exploring the exhibits with the guidance of an adult can give them the first taste of looking into the past. The exhibits can be made more meaningful when a parent or grandparent shares something they remember from when they are younger. Museum staff can also help enrich a visit by answering questions or providing more information to families.

Both the first and second floor of City Museum have special fun areas just for kids. Currently in our first floor kids area, we have Parts Lab. Kids can use a variety of common objects to create whatever they want! We also have coloring sheets and crayons, as well as puzzles to keep little ones engaged.

On the second floor, kids play station master in our kid-sized depot. And, be sure to spend some time at our train table - a very popular stop at City Museum.

Families can check out a Time Traveler's Suitcase to learn about West Chicago's history from home in a fun, hands-on way. Just $5 allows you to check the suitcase out for two weeks - and you get your $5 back upon return!

Filled with hands-on activities and bursting with history, these suitcases can be enjoyed by Time Travelers of all ages. Pick up a passport to track your travels. Time Travelers who get stamped in all six eras can turn their completed passport in for a prize!
